Wavy hair has a natural, fluid pattern with soft movement and glossy lightness — beautiful once its shape and flow come together. At the same time, it’s sensitive to product load and excess water, which can quickly reduce definition and volume. What helps is an ultra-light routine with targeted hydration and minimal layering.

This is where HAVANA CURLS comes in — with a few precisely harmonized products that enhance definition without weighing hair down. The complete routine below, including washing, stays intentionally streamlined and can be fine-tuned with small product amounts and gentle techniques — for lively, defined waves with natural shine.

1. Cleansing (gentle & light)

Our sulfate-free 2-in-1 Shampoo gently cleanses the scalp and conditions the lengths without weight. Massage a small amount into wet hair and onto the scalp, leave on for about one minute, then rinse thoroughly; repeat if needed. As a rule, one to two washes per week are sufficient — if your roots get oily quickly, up to three.

2. Care & Definition (one step, ultra-light)

Work on wet hair. Spread a small amount of leave-in balm between your palms, smooth hair section by section from top to bottom with flat hands (Praying Hands), then press upward from the ends toward the scalp — hold briefly and release — until soft wave groups form. Use 2–3 times per week.

Detangle if needed: Start with your fingers from the ends upward; if a single knot remains, a touch of balm directly on the spot helps. Use a wide-tooth comb only sparingly. Dosage: Less is more — better to add than to overapply.

3. Care for Ends (targeted hydration, no weigh-down)

For dry or stressed ends, work a pinhead- to pea-sized amount of the rich Leave-in Conditioner into damp ends only. Do not rinse. This targeted use smooths the cuticle, strengthens the tips, and keeps your waves feeling light. Use as needed — for example, once a week or whenever the ends feel rough.

4. Finish (shine & smooth surface)

Rub a few drops of Hair Serum between your palms and smooth over mid-lengths and ends — not the roots. This tames flyaways, reduces frizz, and adds a subtle sheen without weighing hair down. Use as a final finish after styling or target individual strands as needed — 1 to 7 times per week.

5. Drying (maintain shape & volume)

Lay a cotton towel or T-shirt flat, lower the wet hair loosely into it, wrap the towel at the head, and let it absorb excess water for 5–10 minutes — without flattening the waves (micro-plopping). Then air-dry and leave the hair alone. Alternatively, diffuse gently on a cool to lukewarm setting: lift waves into the bowl, bring it to the head, hold briefly, then release — in short pulses rather than a continuous airflow (pixie diffusing). Only once completely dry, gently fluff the roots.

Refresh care & tips (as needed)

Quick refresh on day two or three after washing: Lightly mist hair, spread a tiny amount of balm between your palms, then press upward from the ends toward the scalp in the desired areas — hold briefly and release — until wave groups reform (scrunch). Work in small sections so grouping stays even.

More moisture without weight: The bowl or squish methods also work for waves — always use micro-amounts of product to avoid stretching them out.

Root volume: When diffusing, briefly lift the roots (clips or fingers) and always use a low airflow.

Serum sparingly: A single drop is often enough to smooth surface frizz.

With this wave-friendly routine, you combine gentle cleansing, ultra-light nourishment, and flexible definition — for lively waves with natural volume and sheen.

  • Curly hair

Curly hair has a beautiful, lively structure and natural bounce. At the same time, it’s more prone to dryness and frizz if not cared for properly.

  • Dry, straight hair

Dry, straight hair can seem low-maintenance at first glance, but dry lengths and ends quickly show roughness, are prone to split ends, and develop flyaways.
