Curly hair has a beautiful, lively structure and natural bounce. At the same time, it’s more prone to dryness and frizz if not properly cared for. The key is a routine that hydrates, gently detangles, and defines — without weighing the hair down.

This is where HAVANA CURLS comes in. With just a few harmonized products, you get a complete care routine: gentle, sulfate-free formulas without silicones, no unnecessary heat styling, and no harsh ingredients.

1. Cleansing (gentle clarification & care)

The routine starts with our sulfate-free 2-in-1 Shampoo. It cleanses thoroughly without drying out the hair and, thanks to moringa oil, delivers nutrients while you wash. Massage a small amount into wet hair and onto the scalp, leave on for about two minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Repeat if needed. As a rule, washing curly hair once or twice a week is sufficient.

2. Detangling & Moisture (care anchor)

After washing comes the most important step: adding moisture and gently detangling curls. Work our rich Leave-in Conditioner between your palms, then apply it in sections to soaking-wet hair — focusing on the ends. Press water and conditioner into the strands using the “squish to condish” method. This creates the slip needed to detangle gently. Start with your fingers at the ends and move upward slowly. Only then, if necessary, use a wide-tooth comb or an appropriate brush. Do not rinse. Depending on dryness, apply small amounts once or twice a week — more often if hair is very dry.

3. Definition & Styling (bounce + bundle)

For definition and curl grouping, apply our lightweight Leave-in Balm to very wet hair. Spread a small amount between your palms, then smooth it flat from root to tip over each curl to refine the surface (Praying Hands). Next, scrunch gently from the ends upward toward the roots to encourage curl grouping until uniform curl bundles form. The balm boosts bounce, reduces frizz, and leaves a naturally polished finish. If you wear your curls loose, a small amount daily or every other day is often enough to refresh.

4. Sealing & Finish (shine + protection)

To finish, seal with our Hair Serum. Warm a few drops between your palms and gently work them through mid-lengths and ends. This locks in moisture, tames frizz, and adds a natural sheen to the curls. The serum also works beautifully as a post-styling finisher or for targeted touch-ups on individual strands. For curls, a small amount a few times per week up to daily is usually enough.

5. Drying (gentle and with shape)

Let your curls air-dry whenever possible — or lay them flat in a cotton towel/T-shirt, wrap the cloth at the head, and let it absorb excess water before releasing to dry freely (plopping) — this helps preserve natural bounce. You can also use a diffuser — stick to cool to lukewarm air and hold the diffuser steady beneath the curls.

Our tips: refreshing, dosage and drying

Refresh on in-between days: Lightly mist curls, spread a small amount of leave-in balm between your palms, then gently press hair upward from the ends toward the scalp with open hands, hold briefly and release, until curl groups form (scrunch). Treat dry ends as needed with targeted dabs of leave-in conditioner; a drop of serum smooths the surface and helps reduce frizz.

Order and dosage: On in-between days, layer light before rich — apply the leave-in balm first for definition, then, if needed, use the rich leave-in conditioner very sparingly only on very dry areas. Work in small amounts and distribute evenly — this helps preserve bounce and volume.

Drying and handling: After refreshing, air-dry or diffuse gently. Avoid touching while drying; once fully dry, fluff lightly. If some strands feel a bit “stiff,” it’s usually too much product — soften with a little water or a whisper of serum.

  • Dry, straight hair

Dry, straight hair can seem low-maintenance at first glance, but dry lengths and ends quickly show roughness, are prone to split ends, and develop flyaways.
