Coily hair shows a wide range of patterns — from tight spirals to zigzag, wave-like textures — unique, beautiful structures with natural fullness and expression. At the same time, it’s sensitive and dries out easily because moisture from the scalp rarely reaches the ends. Common themes include brittle lengths, delicate tips, frizz, and detangling stress.

HAVANA CURLS meets these needs with fewer, clearly aligned products instead of overload. The routine stays intentionally streamlined — gentle cleansing, a solid hydration base, light definition, and reliable sealing. We tailor amount, technique, and frequency to density, porosity, and length: less product at the roots, more protection on the ends, careful sectioning, and low-heat drying. The result: defined patterns, soft lengths, and lasting shine.

Optional preparation: Pre-Poo (protection & detangling)

Before washing, we recommend a pre-poo (= before shampoo) with our Hair Serum. Massage it generously into the lengths and ends and leave it on for 20–30 minutes. This step protects the delicate hair structure from drying out and makes detangling easier.

1. Cleaning (gentle & careful)

Our sulfate-free 2-in-1 Shampoo cleanses thoroughly without drying out your hair. Thanks to moringa oil, your hair is nourished and strengthened even while you wash. Massage a small amount into wet hair, leave on for about 3 minutes, then rinse well. Repeat if needed — one wash per week is usually enough to keep afro-textured hair fresh and healthy.

2. Care (moisture anchor)

After cleansing, the key step is intensive hydration. Work the rich Leave-in conditioner between your palms and apply it section by section to damp hair — focusing on the ends. It delivers deep nourishment, softens, and helps reduce breakage. For coily hair, we recommend using it 2–7 times per week.

3. Definition & Styling (Shape + Bundling)

For clear definition, follow with our lighter Leave-in Balm. Rub a small amount between your palms and gently work it through the hair. Ideal for twist-outs, braid-outs, or whenever curls need quick refresh and definition — 1 to 2 times per week or as needed.

4. Sealing (shine & protection)

To finish, seal with our Hair Serum. Work a few drops through lengths and ends; if needed, gently massage into the scalp to help prevent dryness. It also produces a glossy finishing touch after styling. For afro-textured hair, we recommend using it from once a week up to daily — this helps lock in moisture so hair stays supple and luminous.

Our tips: important principles for frizzy hair

Refresh on non-wash days: Lightly mist with water, then work the Leave-in conditioner through mid-lengths and ends in sections (do not rinse). If needed, finish with a touch of Hair Serum.

Gentle detangling: Apply Leave-in conditioner first for slip. Carefully loosen tangles from ends toward roots with your fingers; use a wide-tooth tool only if needed. For single knots, soften with a little Leave-in conditioner or a drop of Hair Serum.

Dosage and placement: Less is more — work in small amounts, keep products on mid-lengths and ends, avoid the roots. Distribute evenly and allow time to absorb so nothing feels weighed down.

  • Curly hair

Curly hair has a beautiful, lively structure and natural bounce. At the same time, it’s more prone to dryness and frizz if not cared for properly.

  • Dry, straight hair

Dry, straight hair can seem low-maintenance at first glance, but dry lengths and ends quickly show roughness, are prone to split ends, and develop flyaways.
